About The Position

As an Embedded Controls Hardware Architect at Thermo King, you will lead the development of modern embedded controls hardware architectures and practices across product lines. You will own functional, technical, and integration architectures for embedded controls hardware, ensuring connectivity with internal ecosystems and the external systems and devices used by customers, dealers, and partners. Working with the architecture team and cross-functional colleagues, you will guide solutions from concept through execution and establish standards for controls hardware development. The role is onsite Monday through Thursday, with the option to choose your work location on Fridays based on work requirements. Multi-region travel of up to 5% may be required. The position offers a base salary range of $133,633.33–$186,830.00 and is incentive eligible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, with 8 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in embedded controls hardware selection, PCB design, layout, schematic capture, and design/development tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Siemens Xpedition, or PADS Professional.
  • Experience with signal-integrity design and controlled-impedance layer-stack-up techniques.
  • Experience with microprocessor and microcontroller architectures and communication links such as CAN and SPI, including their impact on embedded hardware design.
  • Experience selecting IoT wireless electronics hardware and designing products involving RF, analog, and digital electronics and components.
  • Knowledge of radio technologies, including cellular, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth standards and certifications.
  • Experience with industrial connectivity protocols such as CAN, J1939, Modbus, MQTT, OPC-UA, secure IP-based protocols, and Automotive Ethernet (100Base-T1 and 10Base-T1S).
  • Knowledge of UML, SysML, or MBSE for system modeling and design.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps tools such as GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills for working in cross-disciplinary software, hardware, and systems engineering teams.
