About The Position

The Paraprofessional-ELL is responsible for supporting the instructional program within an assigned classroom. This role involves assisting in the assessment of students' English language acquisition from their native language, administering tests, performing classroom clerical tasks, and serving as a communication resource for non-English speaking individuals. The position aims to facilitate learning and ensure effective communication within the school environment.

• Knowledge of concepts of grammar and punctuation in both English and Second Language.

Responsibilities

• Administers tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom.
• Assists students, individually or in groups, in the classroom or outside the classroom, with lesson assignments for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts and assessing understanding in English.
• Implements, under the supervision of the teacher, instructional programs, and lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
• Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, library, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
• Translates verbal and written communication(s), as needed, or assigned, for the purpose of assisting students, teachers, and parents in communicating.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
