About The Position

The Canton Public Schools is looking for part-time reading tutors to work with Grade 1-5 elementary students in need of reading intervention. The tutor schedule is anticipated to be 4 days/week totaling between 16-19.5 total hours per week beginning in late September through late May. Preferred candidates will have familiarity with delivering targeted small group instruction based on current assessment data. Tutors plan for small group instruction using district provided high quality, evidence based materials. Tutors will be required to keep notes on student progress and will participate in writing brief progress reports for students on their caseload. Tutors will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, principals, and the PreK-5 Humanities Coordinator. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the position. Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with delivering targeted small group instruction based on current assessment data.
• MA Elementary Certification preferred
• SEI Endorsement preferred
• Familiarity with RTI
• Experience using research based reading programs
• Familiarity with the Massachusetts Math Curriculum Frameworks
• Familiarity with science of reading aligned practices and the reading workshop model
