The position may be in Anchorage or Juneau, depending upon the location of the most qualified candidate. As an Eligibility Technician 2 (ET2) in the Long-Term Care Unit, you will undergo formal training on various programs managed by the Division. The ET2 is expected to demonstrate extensive knowledge, proficiency, and the ability to work independently and efficiently while managing a diverse and sizable caseload under general supervision. You will develop expertise in program policies, enabling you to make independent, complex eligibility decisions and apply your understanding of multiple program manuals to ensure eligibility criteria are met across various programs. Requirements

  • One year of entry level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska; OR One year performing similar work that developed knowledge and skills in applying program requirements and working with client customers in stressful situations.
  • Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Customer Service: Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Eligibility Determinations: Knowledge of federal and/or state government or public assistance benefit regulations, policies, and procedures required to evaluate financial, personal, medical, and household information to determine program eligibility, authorize benefits, and maintain case records within mandatory timeframes.
  • Self-Management: Sets well-defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve; demonstrates responsible behavior.
  • Flexibility: Is open to change and new information; rapidly adapts to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles.
  • Must be an Alaskan Resident.
  • Provide three (3) professional references.
  • Provide current performance evaluation, if available.
  • Provide a copy of academic transcripts (unofficial is okay; please ensure that the institution name/URL is listed on the transcripts) if used to support minimum qualifications/competencies.
  • Answer the Supplemental Question.
  • Fill in the Education section of the application, indicating the number of units completed if a degree has not been obtained.
  • Provide copies of transcripts to verify educational credentials used to meet or support minimum qualifications/competencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in such fields as sociology, social work, psychology, counseling, human services, vocational rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, behavioral sciences, business, public administration, or accounting may substitute for the required experience (undergraduate credits: 2.67 semester/4 quarter hours = 1 month).
