About The Position

The Eligibility Specialist performs a wide variety of clinical and program support activities including checking insurance to ensure ability to be billed. Duties of this role include, but are not limited to: Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits for clinic and surgery centers to ensure that it is active and billable. Obtains and verifies insurance referrals as appropriate. Investigates and coordinates benefit and insurance errors. Complies with organizational and HIPAA policies and regulations to ensure patient care is kept confidential. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties and tasks as assigned. Assists with new patient scheduling and creation of charts within EMR system Collaborates with all departments to ensure accuracy in work.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Good writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and prioritize duties.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work well whether independently or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of basic office management and organization.
  • All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • One year of current insurance eligibility experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
