About The Position

The Elevate Youth Navigator supports youth ages 12–26 to build leadership skills, prevent substance use, and engage in civic action that advances community-level change. This role centers youth voice through facilitation, mentorship, and prevention programming across Stanislaus County.

Requirements

BA/BS in a related field with experience in youth development, community engagement, facilitation of group-based programming, substance use prevention, and trauma-informed practices.
Degree may be waived with a minimum of 2–3 years of progressively responsible experience in a related youth-serving or community-based role.
Experience facilitating group-based programming, workshops, or classes for youth or community members, including coordination of activities and participant engagement.
Experience supporting youth or young adults in a leadership, mentoring, coaching, or prevention-focused capacity.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse youth populations and to collaborate with schools, community organizations, and public agencies across varying cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Experience organizing and coordinating workshops, meetings, or community events, including logistics, outreach, and facilitation support.
Proficiency in office software (Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
Ability to travel to Ceres, Modesto, Oakdale, Patterson, Newman, and surrounding areas within Stanislaus County.
Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints.
Pass agency paid TB (Tuberculosis) screening.
Pass agency health screening and/or drug testing, if required.
Valid California driver’s license and proof of auto insurance coverage.
Pass agency paid MVR clearance with no more than 2 points – if you are under the age of 25 our insurance company will not allow any points.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with youth or young adults impacted by community-level challenges, including exposure to substance use, stigma, or systemic inequities, preferred.
Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and harm-reduction approaches as they relate to youth engagement and substance use prevention, preferred.
Knowledge of public health or prevention frameworks, youth development principles, and community-based nonprofit operations and resources
Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

Recruits, engages, and supports youth ages 12–26 to participate in Elevate Youth California–funded prevention, leadership, and civic engagement activities across Stanislaus County.
Facilitates monthly Youth Leadership Council meetings, supporting youth leadership development, substance use prevention education, civic engagement skill-building, and peer-led discussion.
Coordinates and facilitates monthly substance use prevention activities for broader youth participants, incorporating stigma-reducing, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed approaches.
Supports youth in designing and administering peer surveys and hosting listening sessions to gather youth input on community needs, risk factors, and protective factors related to substance use.
Guides youth through data review and reflection processes to identify priority policy, systems, or environmental (P.S.E.) issues and develop youth-driven recommendations.
Supports youth-led civic engagement activities, including preparation for presentations, meetings with decision-makers, coalition participation, and public showcase events.
Coordinates mentorship opportunities by matching participating youth with trusted adult mentors and/or peer buddies to strengthen protective relationships and positive role modeling.
Plans and facilitates quarterly culturally rooted healing activities (e.g., talking circles, wellness activities, creative expression) that promote belonging, resilience, and cultural pride.
Conducts outreach and builds relationships with schools, and community partners to support recruitment, meeting space, and sustained youth participation.
Provides logistical support for youth activities, including scheduling, transportation coordination, stipends, and communication with participants and families as appropriate.
Maintains accurate and timely documentation of participant engagement, attendance, surveys, and outcomes in agency databases and required reporting systems.
Participates in team meetings, planning sessions, and trainings to ensure alignment with program goals, prevention best practices, and grant requirements.
Supports data collection and reporting efforts related to program outcomes, monitoring, and evaluation in collaboration with program leadership.
Performs additional duties as assigned to support team collaboration and program success.
Represent the agency in a professional and competent manner.
