About The Position

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks an inspiring world cultures teacher for its elementary grade levels for the 2026-2027 school year. The World Cultures teacher will be responsible for leading daily social studies instruction aligned with Florida social studies standards, incorporating African American studies, and developing projects across multiple grade levels. This educator should possess a clear vision for social studies that encourages students to engage with learning about diverse cultures. Social studies instruction will supplement other core academic areas and align with English Language Arts instruction. This is a full-time position within the existing specials department, which includes P.E. and other specials classes. As a specials teacher, they will interact with students across multiple grade levels and be responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Specific teacher responsibilities will be outlined by their School Leader. For the 2026-27 school year, K-8 teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with potential for occasional meetings or special school events outside these hours. Student hours are typically 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., with early release on Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. for professional development and content team meetings. The specials schedule is subject to change and can vary by school. The specials team comprises up to seven teachers for the entire school, depending on its size. Each specials teacher instructs students across multiple grade levels. Depending on the subject area, the teacher may travel to classrooms or have students transition to their own classroom. Class sizes are typically around 26 students, and a teacher usually sees a class about once per week in a given rotation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in Elementary Education K-6
  • At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
  • Possesses a deep commitment to both racial and educational equity for all children
  • Passing a background check, as required by law
  • Background screening through the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse in accordance with Florida House Bill 531

  • Two or more years of K-8 teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
