About The Position

The Elementary Teaching Assistant role at Great Hearts supports the lead teacher in implementing a rich Core Knowledge curriculum within a K-5 setting. This position also offers a pathway to becoming an Apprentice Teacher, where individuals function as a second teacher in the classroom, learning the craft of teaching in a classical, liberal arts primary-school environment through mentorship with a Master Teacher. Many Apprentice Teachers go on to become lead teachers.

Requirements

• Must pass a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.
• May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.

• Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead teacher in the implementation of a rich Core Knowledge curriculum.
• Function as a second teacher in the classroom, assisting with planning, grading/evaluation, and parent communications.
• Learn the craft of teaching in a classical, liberal arts, primary-school environment through mentorship with a Master Teacher.
