About The Position
The Elementary Teaching Assistant role at Great Hearts supports the lead teacher in implementing a rich Core Knowledge curriculum for K-5 students. This position also offers an opportunity to function as an Apprentice Teacher, acting as a second teacher in the classroom without the full responsibility of planning, grading, and parent communication. Through mentorship from a Master Teacher, individuals learn the craft of teaching within a classical, liberal arts primary-school environment. Many Apprentice Teachers advance to become lead teachers in lower or upper schools, provided they hold a bachelor's degree.
Requirements
- Must pass a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance.
- May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.

- Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
Responsibilities
- Support the lead teacher in the implementation of a rich Core Knowledge curriculum.
- Function as a second teacher in the classroom, assisting with classroom management and student support.
- Learn the craft of teaching through mentorship with a Master Teacher.
- Assist with classroom activities and student engagement.
