Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education
3 years of successful experience in an elementary school
Experience with integrated instruction
Has or is able to obtain a Utah teaching license
Effective communication skills in working with children, parents, college students and professional colleagues
Familiarity with the State of Utah’s Core Curriculum and other state sponsored initiatives
Excellent teaching skills and commitment to serving students
Willingness to work in a dynamic educational environment
The ability to be flexible and adaptable to program implementation and scheduling
Experience with the use of technology in instruction
Experience in supervising pre-service teachers
Nice To Haves
Master’s Degree in Elementary Education or related field
Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups and the measurement of training effects.
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
Knowledge of human behavior and performance, individual differences in ability, personality, and interest; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and effective disorders.
Strong written and verbal communication.
Analyzes information and evaluates results to select the best solution and solve problems.
Measures performance of self; makes improvements and takes appropriate corrective action.
Uses logic and reasoning to identify solutions and approaches to problems.
Works to create a team-based environment.
Makes coherent and appropriate decisions in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
Classroom instruction, team teaching, supervision of undergraduate pre-service teachers
Establish student outcomes and plan daily activities to achieve them
Become familiar with student’s individualized plans and see that they are implemented
Modify the general education curriculum for special-needs students based upon variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology
Establish and enforce rules for behavior and policies and procedures to maintain order among students
Prepare materials and resources for class activities
Develop and demonstrate use of creative educational practices, techniques and strategies
Keep in contact with parents/guardians on a regular basis and report any incidents to the Director and individuals involved
Be involved in conducting and validating research
Cooperate with university, state, and local educational agencies in research and assessment
Support special projects and committee work
Mentor and supervise a student teacher as well as other practicum students
Share innovative and best practices within the professional community
