About The Position

A LifeWise teacher combines in-depth Bible knowledge and outstanding teaching abilities to share the gospel with churched and unchurched public school students in a classroom setting. The ideal candidate is an active church participant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, perceptive, and proficient in teaching children. The teacher completes initial and ongoing training, teaches LifeWise classes using the LifeWise curriculum, maintains class records and the classroom, and communicates with students, families, school personnel, volunteers, and the community. The role promotes and communicates LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, in alignment with the organization's core values and beliefs. This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) position. LifeWise Academy states that its hiring practices and EEO policy comply with federal and state law and notes the religious-organization exception to the religion section of employment discrimination laws.

Requirements

At least two years of classroom teaching experience with students in a school or church setting.
A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Caring and perceptive approach and proficiency in teaching children.
Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course within 30 days of the start date and before teaching in the LifeWise classroom.

Responsibilities

Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course within 30 days of the start date and before teaching in the LifeWise classroom.
Participate in the annual LifeWise Summit and attend at least one Teachers' Lounge or LifeWise Meet-Up each year.
Stay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise email.
Use the LifeWise curriculum to plan lessons and map curriculum customization, and implement the curriculum in the classroom.
Build relationships with students and pray for them regularly.
Create an organized, encouraging, and engaging classroom environment using varied teaching strategies and redemptive discipline.
Apply LifeWise policies, procedures, and resources.
Take attendance in each class and provide attendance records to the program director and/or school officials as needed.
Maintain accurate class rosters, including student health concerns, special needs, and photo permissions noted on parent permission slips.
Prepare information and materials for a substitute teacher as needed.
Keep the classroom clean, attractive, and well ordered; know emergency procedures; and purchase needed classroom supplies using funds provided by the program director.
Represent LifeWise Academy in the community and attend the annual school open house and other outreach events as available.
Maintain dialogue with school personnel about class schedule changes and student well-being.
Build relationships with volunteers and keep them informed of schedule changes.
Submit regular updates, stories, and photos to the program director.
Promote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and beliefs.
