About The Position

The Elementary Teacher helps students learn subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as mature, capable, and responsible people prepared to shape tomorrow. The teacher develops and implements engaging lessons, supports student growth, maintains a safe and nurturing classroom, communicates with families and the community, and follows District policies and accountability practices. This is a nine-month position at Ira Murphy Elementary in Peoria, Arizona, supervised by the principal at the assigned location.

Requirements

• Hold a valid intern, provisional, or standard Arizona Teaching Certificate, or possess the necessary qualifications to become certified in Arizona.
• Possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Pass a background clearance check.
• Obtain and maintain a valid government-issued ID.

Responsibilities

• Manage and educate students while helping them discover and fulfill their potential.
• Develop and implement creative and engaging lesson plans.
• Document and share student grades and evaluations.
• Cultivate a creative learning environment and maintain a safe, inviting, and nurturing space for students, staff, and the community.
• Set and maintain classroom behavior standards and uphold District discipline policies.
• Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the regular instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
• Foster positive relationships with students, teachers, parents, and community members.
• Maintain accurate and complete records required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
• Follow effective policies and practices for accountability and stewardship of District resources.
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
