Howard Perrin Elementary is seeking an Elementary Teacher for the 26/27 School Year. This role involves demonstrating accurate knowledge of content and pedagogy, understanding students' individual development, needs, skills, and knowledge. The teacher will select and use appropriate resources, adhere to Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and 504 plans, and build coherent lessons, activities, and assessments. A key aspect of this role is creating an environment of respect and rapport, fostering a positive culture for learning, and establishing effective classroom procedures with minimal loss of instructional time. The teacher will manage student behavior, communicate effectively with students, and collaborate with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators to address student challenges. High expectations and effective lesson delivery are crucial, along with employing effective questioning and discussion techniques. Providing timely and high-quality feedback, utilizing assessments during instruction, and demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to student learning are also essential. The teacher will reflect on their teaching practices to improve student understanding and achievement, maintain accurate records, and manage classroom equipment and supplies. Effective communication with families about student progress and needs is required, as is participation and contribution to the professional community and continued professional growth. Professionalism with students, staff, and parents is expected, along with reporting any cases of suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse. The teacher will enforce administration policies, attend professional meetings and development sessions, and assist in student supervision in various school areas. Sponsorship of extracurricular activities and performance of other assigned duties are also part of the role.
