About The Position

The Elementary Teacher is the primary instructional delivery person in the classroom. The role is demanding, varied, and complex, and student achievement and growth depend largely on the teacher’s work and efforts. The teacher builds relationships, communicates and collaborates effectively, and applies strong content knowledge and teaching strategies to support students’ academic and social-emotional development. The teacher establishes a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment; plans and delivers standards-based instruction; differentiates learning to meet students’ needs; assesses and documents student progress; and collaborates with families, community members, grade-level colleagues, and school faculty. Instruction should reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served. Lynn Public Schools serves approximately 17,000 students across 29 school sites in a linguistically and culturally diverse community. The district’s vision is to fulfill each student’s intellectual, physical, and social-emotional potential, guided by the values of inclusiveness, shared responsibility, collaborative relationships, high expectations, and inspiring lifelong learning. The position is for 180 days per year, with terms of employment negotiated with the Lynn School Committee and Lynn Teachers Union.
