About The Position

Shore Educational Collaborative, established in 1975, is one of 24 educational collaboratives in Massachusetts providing public special education to students with disabilities. We serve over 180 students, aged 3-22, at our Chelsea school, offering a comprehensive education and related services. We foster collaboration and a strong team, evidenced by an 88% retention rate of professional staff. We are seeking a Special Education Teacher to educate Elementary-Aged students with Autism and/or other developmental disabilities.

Requirements

  • Current DESE licensure in Moderate Disabilities or Severe Disabilities preferred.
  • Experience working with students with Autism and knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis preferred.
  • Candidates who are close to licensure, who are eligible for licensure, or who have a different DESE license and are willing to pursue the appropriate licensure will be considered.
  • All school staff who may be expected to manage behavior must obtain and maintain certification in Shore's approved behavioral safety training program (Safety Care or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP while addressing grade-level content standards with modifications and accommodations as necessary.
  • Utilize positive reinforcement, behavior modification, and classroom routines to shape positive behaviors and create an inclusive safe environment where learning can occur both academically and socially/emotionally.
  • Implement a collaborative relationship with each student’s service providers.
  • Maintain regular communication with the families of students in your classroom regarding their progress.
  • Develop and implement Individual Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) where necessary.
