This role is responsible for promoting the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of assigned students. The teacher will utilize available instructional materials and a variety of techniques to provide opportunities for student achievement and development, demonstrating knowledge and application of appropriate developmental practices for young children. Key functions include maintaining accurate records, ensuring a safe and attractive classroom, implementing effective classroom management, and completing administrative tasks in a timely manner. The position also involves planning and preparing for classes, submitting lesson plans weekly, and reporting punctually to assigned duties. The teacher will stay informed about system methods, programs, and resources, using various diagnostic and placement methods. They are expected to exhibit self-control, provide for individual differences, and continually evaluate student progress. Cooperation with school and central office personnel, encouraging parent involvement, and demonstrating professional growth through inservice training and faculty participation are also crucial. The role requires adherence to Louisiana laws concerning student education, health, safety, and welfare, and assisting in the development and implementation of quality education within Jefferson Parish Public Schools. The teacher will also participate in the evaluation process and perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
