As a key support role in the classroom, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced educators, assist in lesson preparation, and provide individualized attention to students. Responsibilities may include assisting teachers in preparing classroom materials, working closely with students in small groups, and being adaptable to complete independently various tasks as assigned. Requirements

  • At least two years of study (60 semester hours) at an accredited institution of higher education; or An associate's degree (or higher); or An approved state or local academic assessment that measures the teacher assistant's knowledge of an ability to assist instruction at the appropriate level.
  • Teacher Assistant may meet the assessments requirement by passing the ParaPro Assessment (ETS.org). The minimum passing score on this test is 456.
  • Understanding of elementary age children
  • Ability to work with others
  • Willingness to follow directions
  • Ability to handle unforeseen situations in accordance with school policy
  • Ability to accept individual differences amount children
