About The Position

K12, a Stride Company, is seeking passionate School Educators for the Stride K12 partner school, Texas Online Academy – Atlanta. The mission of Texas Online Academy – Atlanta is to provide an exemplary individualized and engaging educational experience for students by incorporating school and community/family partnerships, a rigorous curriculum, and a data-driven, student-centered instructional model. Student success is measured by assessment data, parent and student satisfaction, and institutional growth. The Special Education Teacher is the teacher of record, responsible for instruction, support, and guidance for self-contained and ALT students, focusing on their individual needs as defined by their Individual Education Program (IEP). This role also involves progress monitoring, managing service logs, and ensuring compliance with all required documentation for self-contained and ALT students.

Requirements

Texas Special Education and ESL preferred certificates and licenses.
Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, and use it to drive instructional decisions.
Receptive to receiving coaching on a regular basis with administrators.
Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word; PowerPoint.
Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
Strong written/verbal communication skills.
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time to support in-person student testing, attend professional development, or other travel as required by the school.
Ability to clear required background check.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with parents and colleagues to manage course goals, curriculum, and materials that enhance the learning experience.
Create compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other state-specific required special education documentation.
Participate in and provide input for collaborative special education meetings, such as annual IEP meetings.
Actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (or professional development).
Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed.
Participate in data analysis meetings to monitor student growth.
Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals and objectives.
Document all contact with parents, collaborations with general education teachers, and interventions with students.
Use provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities, including assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text.
Provide special education services to students.
Support general education teachers and parents with student accommodations to promote the attainment of IEP goals.
Ensure inclusion and success of students in the general education classroom.
Provide personalized learning for all students.
Demonstrate a belief in all students’ ability to succeed and meet high expectations.
Maintain grade book, ensuring student academic integrity.
Provide input for student placement and promotion decisions.
Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress.
Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
Establish and maintain a positive rapport with families.
Regularly communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner.
Support learning coaches/parents with student curricular and instructional issues, as well as basic troubleshooting in a virtual classroom environment.
Support in-person student testing.
