About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Elementary Special Education Teacher to join our team at GT Norman Elementary. This full-time position is designed for an educator who is committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that promote academic success and social-emotional growth for our students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education for elementary education.
  • Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Proficiency in using technology for instruction and data management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt lesson plans and provide necessary accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, using data to inform instructional practices and make necessary adjustments.
  • Create a positive, nurturing classroom environment that encourages student engagement and promotes a love of learning.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, IEP goals, and any concerns.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student needs, share insights, and develop strategies for success.
  • Provide direct instruction in academic and life skills, utilizing a variety of teaching methods and resources.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to support students’ social and emotional development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and IEP documentation.
  • Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
