About The Position

Lighthouse Community Public Schools (LCPS) seeks an Elementary Science Teacher for the 2026–27 school year who is committed to helping traditionally underserved students of color achieve strong academic outcomes, pursue college and careers of their choice, and become lifelong changemakers. LCPS operates two TK–12 public charter schools in East Oakland and uses the EL Education Model, centering students’ learning and emphasizing community, integrity, agency, love, and social justice. The teacher will deliver culturally responsive, rigorous, student-centered instruction and use assessment data to guide learning. In grades TK–2, teachers teach all subjects in a self-contained classroom; in grades 3–5, teachers work in a more departmentalized, team-teaching model. Teachers also lead a daily advisory called “Crew,” support yard supervision up to twice weekly, and may lead guided study hall or a designated ELD course based on school needs and licensure. The role includes building inclusive, supportive classroom communities; partnering with students and families; collaborating with colleagues; participating in professional learning; reflecting on practice and acting on feedback; and administering school, state, and federal policies and procedures. This is a 1.0 FTE, full-time exempt position on a 10-month, 190-day work year. Teachers maintain common building hours, which are generally 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Wednesday for professional development. Occasional evening events are scheduled during the year.
