About The Position

Empowerment Academy Charter School is hiring Lead Elementary School Teachers for the 2026/2027 School Year and Beyond! Empowerment Academy is a dynamic and successful charter school that truly supports its teachers and staff. Empowerment has 3 of its own campuses, and BelovED is our “sister school.” We serve a mix of students that are among the most diverse in America while enjoying the cultural vibrance of Jersey City, Hoboken and New York City. Our staff is a dedicated group of individuals passionate about closing the achievement gap and providing a quality educational program. At Empowerment Academy, we emphasize teamwork and community and truly value our faculty. Requirements

  • NJ DOE K-6 Certification is required.
  • NJ Department of Education CE, CEAS or Standard Elementary School Teacher License.
  • K-6 certification is required, not P-3.
  • Candidates who do not possess the required NJDOE certification cannot be hired.
  • If applying for reciprocity, must have already applied before reaching out to interview.

Responsibilities

  • Plan lessons and solve problems in professional learning communities (PLCs).
  • Partner with an array of specialists to meet scholars’ diverse needs.
  • Utilize high-quality formative assessments, aligned with the curriculum, to identify when students have not achieved mastery of a skill, concept, or knowledge item.
  • Work with full-time reading and math specialists to tutor students struggling to master an essential skill.
  • Collaborate with counselors and social workers to support students struggling with non-academic problems.
