About The Position

Empowerment Academy Charter School is hiring Lead Elementary School Teachers for the 2026/2027 School Year and Beyond! NJ DOE K-6 Certification is required! Salary: $68,500-$88,500 Competitive Raises Year to Year and Paid Summer Training! Empowerment Academy is a dynamic and successful charter school that truly supports its teachers and staff. Empowerment has 3 of its own campuses, and BelovED is our “sister school.” We serve a mix of students that are among the most diverse in America while enjoying the cultural vibrance of Jersey City, Hoboken and New York City. Our staff is a dedicated group of individuals passionate about closing the achievement gap and providing a quality educational program. Requirements

  • NJ DOE K-6 Certification is required!
  • Candidates must possess a NJ Department of Education CE, CEAS or Standard Elementary School Teacher License.
  • At this time we need to only consider people with K-6 rather than P-3.
  • Candidates who do not possess the required NJDOE certification cannot be hired.
  • If you are applying for reciprocity, we can work with you on your certification but you must have already applied before reaching out to interview.

Responsibilities

  • Teachers at Empowerment Academy are part of a school-wide team.
  • They receive career-long coaching and professional development support from school leaders.
  • Work with their peers in professional learning communities (PLCs) to plan lessons and solve problems.
  • Partner with an array of specialists to meet scholars’ diverse needs.
  • Abundant planning periods during the school day.
  • Utilize a research-based curriculum and supporting curricular materials.
  • Use high-quality formative assessments, aligned with the curriculum, that help identify when students have not achieved mastery of a skill, concept, or knowledge item.
  • Partner with full-time reading and math specialists who tutor students struggling to master an essential skill.
  • Partner with counselors and social workers who help students struggling with non-academic problems.
