Fairmont Schools is seeking an Elementary School Teacher to plan and implement daily, weekly, and yearly goals and objectives according to students’ needs and within Fairmont’s overall curriculum guidelines. The teacher will promote Fairmont’s philosophy and actively work to develop a positive working environment among students, teachers, administrator, and support staff. This role involves designing learning opportunities that incorporate age-appropriate technology skills, using technology to assist with teaching and learning, and modeling the effective use of technology. The teacher will also design evaluation tools, test children on a routine basis, keep records, and maintain them for progress reports, report cards, and conferences. Analysis and utilization of pre and post-test information for lesson planning and overall input into the curriculum are also key responsibilities. The teacher will organize and maintain a safe, disciplined, yet stimulating academic classroom environment, plan, implement, and supervise special academic and social events, and maintain disciplined classrooms by ensuring all children are aware of rules and their consequences. Ongoing positive communication with parents and staff is essential, as is maintaining appropriate confidentiality. The role includes supervising recess duty and after-school behavioral detention/study hall when scheduled, providing planned academic assistance, and supporting school activities and events. Professional development through staff meetings, professional development sessions, reading, attending workshops, in-services, and conferences is expected. The teacher must follow Fairmont Schools dress code policy and set a good example for students by arriving on time, dressing professionally, planning creative and productive lessons, and promptly evaluating and returning student work. Other duties may be assigned by the Head of School/Associate Head of School.
