About The Position

Empowerment Academy Charter School is seeking Lead Elementary School Teachers for the 2026/2027 School Year and Beyond. We have one Maternity Leave position available, which involves covering for approximately 5 months, with the possibility of a full contract and transition into a Staff Sub role. We also have a First Grade Lead opening. Empowerment Academy is a dynamic charter school located in Jersey City, Hoboken, and New York City, serving a diverse student population. We are committed to closing the achievement gap and providing a quality educational program while supporting our faculty.

Requirements

NJ Department of Education CE, CEAS or Standard Elementary School Teacher License.
NJ DOE K-6 Certification is preferred.
P-3 Certification will be considered.
Candidates who do not possess the required NJDOE certification cannot be hired.

Responsibilities

Covering a Maternity Leave for approximately 5 months.
Transitioning into a Staff Sub role after the maternity leave coverage.
Teaching in a First Grade Lead position.
Planning lessons and solving problems with peers in professional learning communities (PLCs).
Partnering with an array of specialists to meet scholars’ diverse needs.
Utilizing a research-based curriculum and supporting curricular materials.
Using high-quality formative assessments to identify student mastery.
Tutoring students struggling to master essential skills (as a reading or math specialist).
