About The Position

The Elementary School Principal is responsible for establishing a leadership model which results in effective programs for students, implementing procedures that ensure fair and consistent treatment of students and staff, implementing district goals, and establishing and maintaining a positive, productive working relationship with administration, staff and students.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Arizona Principal Certification.
  • Must possess a Master’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Must have three years of verified teaching experience in grades Pre Kindergarten-12.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.
  • Knowledge of District policies, operations and organization.
  • Knowledge of Interpersonal skills including tact, courtesy and diplomacy.
  • Knowledge of Communication (telephone, email, etc.) etiquette.
  • Knowledge of Office practices, procedures and equipment including computers and related software.
  • Knowledge of Leadership theories and practices.
  • Knowledge of Federal and state laws, rules and regulations governing education.
  • Knowledge of Open meeting law requirements.
  • Knowledge of Budget preparation.
  • Knowledge of Site-based management.
  • Knowledge of District’s constituents.
  • Knowledge of Supervision and evaluation of certified and support staff.
  • Knowledge of Implementing organizational theories.
  • Knowledge of Developing and monitoring curriculum guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Developing and evaluating school programs.
  • Knowledge of Promoting positive public relations.
  • Knowledge of Crisis management procedures.
  • Ability to Work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to Establish work priorities to meet schedules and timelines.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in school administration is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with HIPAA and FERPA related confidentiality requirements.
  • Develops and maintains positive relations with ADE, students, parents, school staff and the public.
  • Studies the educational needs of the community and works with the administrative team to develop plans for establishing and meeting targeted goals.
  • Assumes a leadership role in the adoption of the general program of education approved for the school facility under his/her charge.
  • Supervises and formally evaluates instructional (Certified) and hourly (Classified) staff in the daily execution of their assigned duties.
  • Provides guidance and oversight in the implementation of all curriculum based and athletic related student activities.
  • Initiates requests to appropriate central office administration personnel regarding the need of the school with respect to personnel, equipment, supplies, curriculum, and other areas as needed.
  • Develops a program of public relations in order to further the community’s understanding and support of the educational program.
  • Has the knowledge, experience and ability to create the school Master Schedule and make recommendations based on students enrollment to project certified staffing.
  • Administers the school’s budget allocations.
  • Implements Board policies and administrative rules and regulations relating to the school and District.
  • Prepares reports as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
