About The Position

The elementary principal provides leadership and management of the school program in a growing diverse community to affect student academic achievement, social emotional well-being, and physical development for all students. The principal ensures the district’s commitment to equity is integrated into all facets of collaboration with students and families, and in conjunction with all building decisions and operations.

Requirements

  • Possess, or be eligible for, Washington State Principal Certificate required.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years of administrative experience overseeing programs serving children and youth preferred.
  • Three or more years of teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with and engage the school community to promote student learning and well-being.
  • Lead instructional staff in the alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment with state and local district learning goals.
  • Focus on leading all stakeholders in support of the district’s commitment to equity and for students furthest from educational justice.
  • Hire, supervise and evaluate staff to promote effective performance.
  • Work with families in partnership to support student learning.
  • Create a culturally relevant school culture that promotes the ongoing improvement of teaching and learning for staff and students.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of a data-driven school program for the purpose of enhancing student achievement for every student.
  • Advance and contribute to the learning community of school and district administrators in the lessons and insights of emerging practices.
  • Lead system-wide efforts as necessary to support improvement of the district’s academic and well-being outcomes.
  • Manage school climate and facilities to promote student, staff, and school safety.
  • Manage staff and fiscal resources to support student achievement and fulfill legal responsibilities.
  • Compile and submit reports and information in a timely manner.
  • Implement and comply with federal and state laws, District policies, and the Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and conform to work hours specified under contract.
  • Support and promote district initiatives that benefit the larger community.
  • Other related job duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
