About The Position

Thrive Education Partners is partnering with a growing independent school in Miami that believes exceptional education develops the whole child—not just academic achievement. As a School Counselor, you'll play an important role in supporting students' social-emotional development, well-being, and overall success at school. You'll work closely with students, families, teachers, and school leadership to help students navigate the academic, social, and emotional experiences that come with growing and learning. This is an especially exciting opportunity for a counselor who believes that meaningful relationships are at the heart of effective student support—someone who is proactive, collaborative, emotionally grounded, and able to build trust with students while partnering thoughtfully with the adults who support them. The School Counselor will contribute not only to individual student support, but also to the broader culture of the school by helping create an environment where students feel known, supported, confident, and equipped with the skills they need to thrive.

Requirements

• Degree in School Counseling, Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
• Appropriate school counseling certification or licensure, as required.
• Experience working with school-age students.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to successfully complete all required employment screenings and background checks.

• Previous school counseling experience.
• Experience with individual and small-group counseling.
• Experience delivering SEL or classroom guidance lessons.
• Experience supporting students with behavioral or emotional needs.
• Independent or private school experience.
• Experience developing or supporting schoolwide SEL or wellness programming.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships with students and provide individual counseling and support as appropriate.
• Facilitate small groups and/or classroom guidance and SEL lessons.
• Support students with social-emotional, interpersonal, behavioral, and school-related concerns.
• Help students develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, problem-solving skills, and healthy relationships.
• Collaborate with teachers and school leadership to identify student needs and develop appropriate support strategies.
• Communicate thoughtfully with families regarding student social-emotional needs and support.
• Support students and the school community during challenging situations and crisis response, as appropriate to the role.
• Contribute to schoolwide initiatives related to SEL, student wellness, character development, and positive school culture.
• Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and collaborative conversations about student support.
