Itinerant Elementary Orchestra Director at District Wide
About The Position
Olathe Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Orchestra Director for a District Wide position. This role involves instructing beginning orchestra students in 5th grade and potentially supporting large middle school orchestra classes. The position requires the ability to work with students with educational risk factors and special needs, and to form strong relationships with a diverse range of children and families. Differentiating instruction to meet various developmental needs, understanding children with significant needs and behaviors, and programming for them are essential. The teacher will be responsible for implementing the district curriculum to maximize student learning and for the supervision and evaluation of all students within their teaching assignment.
Requirements
- Kansas teaching license with instrumental music endorsement required.
- Ability to form relationships with a wide variety of children and families.
- TB Test/Background Check clearance.
Responsibilities
- Instruct beginning orchestra students (5th grade).
- Provide support/assistance for some large middle school orchestra classes.
- Differentiate instruction for a wide range of developmental needs.
- Understand children with significant needs and behaviors and how to program for them.
- Implement the district curriculum in a way that maximizes student learning.
- Supervise and evaluate all students within his/her teaching assignment.
