About The Position

Rocky Mountain Prep (RMP) is seeking an Elementary Music Teacher for its Southwest Campus. RMP is a network of college-preparatory schools dedicated to providing a world-class education to historically marginalized students. Music is considered an essential part of this education, with music classrooms designed to foster musicianship, creative expression, and essential habits of mind like discipline, collaboration, perseverance, and confidence. Music teachers are responsible for designing and implementing standards-aligned curriculum, facilitating collaborative music-making, and creating joyful, high-expectations learning environments. The role involves centering diverse musical traditions, differentiating instruction for equitable access, assessing scholar learning, and collaborating with colleagues. Teachers are expected to engage in ongoing professional growth, take ownership of student outcomes, build inclusive classrooms, and contribute to school-wide initiatives. RMP emphasizes a culture of rigor and love, investing in the professional development and career advancement of its educators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree (any subject)
  • Subject matter expertise required, as evidenced by either a record of results in teaching the content or a content-specific degree
  • Within the first year of employment, complete CDE READ Act training or CDE Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) -45 contact hours.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Demonstrate Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned music curriculum with authentic performance opportunities.
  • Establish clear criteria for success aligned to the Colorado Academic Standards using rubrics, exemplars, and performance assessments.
  • Facilitate collaborative music-making through rehearsals, peer feedback, reflection, and analysis of diverse musical works.
  • Create joyful, high-expectations classrooms where scholars build skills, take creative risks, and strive for excellence.
  • Center diverse musicians, composers, genres, and traditions that reflect and expand scholars' perspectives.
  • Differentiate instruction to provide equitable access, meaningful challenge, and measurable growth for all scholars.
  • Assess scholar learning through standards-based grading and celebrate growth through concerts, showcases, and performances.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and special educators to support alignment, inclusion, and cross-curricular connections.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth by refining curriculum and instruction through data, feedback, and coaching.
  • Take ownership of student outcomes by setting high expectations, using data to guide instruction, and ensuring all scholars grow through strong planning, rigorous teaching, and timely re-teaching.
  • Build inclusive, relationship-centered classrooms by implementing proactive routines, culturally responsive practices, and consistent communication with families.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues and support staff, contribute to school-wide initiatives, and support daily operations to maintain a safe and organized environment.
