About The Position

At Queen City Academy Charter School, we're not just teaching math—we're building the next generation of critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and confident scholars. As our Elementary School Math Teacher, you'll turn numbers into adventures and equations into “aha!” moments, laying the foundation for lifelong mathematical thinking in our growing K-12 community. We are recruiting teachers for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade Math.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (minimum requirement)
  • Valid New Jersey Teaching Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility (we provide guidance on full certification)
  • Proof of passing required PRAXIS tests
  • Mastery of elementary math content and pedagogical best practices
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to communicate effectively with diverse families and students
  • Team-oriented mindset with high expectations for student achievement
  • Understanding of elementary child development and age-appropriate instruction
  • Commitment to Queen City Academy's mission of creating lifelong learners and critical thinkers
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to go above and beyond for student success

Responsibilities

  • Teach fundamental elementary math concepts—ratios and proportions, expressions and equations, the number system, and beyond
  • Develop culturally responsive math curriculum and bring culturally responsive problem-solving into every lesson
  • Inspire students to wrestle with problems and think critically about multiple paths to a solution
  • Demonstrate infectious enthusiasm for mathematics that builds confidence and meaningful engagement
  • Meet weekly with your principal and/or instructional coach to analyze student work samples and respond to assessment trends
  • Learn and apply strategies for differentiating instruction to meet every learner where they are
  • Build positive relationships with students so they feel seen, loved, and heard
  • Partner with families to ensure every child has the resources they need to support their learning
  • Serve as a living example of our core values, taking part in weekly school-wide meetings
  • Team up with your grade-level colleagues to set academic objectives and put strong teaching techniques into practice
