About The Position

Fruitport Community Schools is seeking an Elementary Math and Reading Interventionist and School Substitute to work at Shettler Elementary School. This role involves providing academic interventions to students at risk of failure in reading or mathematics, as well as stepping in as a substitute teacher when needed. The position is contingent upon the availability of adequate 31a supplemental program dollars.

Requirements

  • Ability to coordinate and work effectively with classroom teachers.
  • Experience in providing strategic interventions to students aligned to standards for performance at each grade level.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid Michigan teaching certificate for elementary education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Step in as a classroom substitute teacher 2 - 3 days per week if a vacancy is not filled.
  • Provides interventions for general education and special education students who are identified at risk of academic failure in reading or mathematics.
  • Provides research-based interventions in reading or math either pull-out or within the classroom.
  • Communicates and coordinates with parents and classroom teachers regarding students’ services and progress.
  • Develops daily/weekly schedules that accommodate intervention opportunities with identified students that minimize impact on their classroom core instruction.
  • Keeps record of intervention services as described above.
  • Responsible for biweekly or semi-annual certification of duties/time as prescribed by business office.
  • Assists the principal and/or Title I staff in coordinating parent-involvement activities.
