About The Position

Urbana School District #116 is hiring an Elementary Lunchroom Supervisor at Yankee Ridge Multilingual. The role supervises the lunchroom and playground to create a safe and pleasant environment for staff and students. The position is not within the collective bargaining unit, is not administrative, and is not exempt. Work is on student contact days, approximately 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., for 2 hours per day, at $18.10 per hour. The start date is ASAP. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate and interact appropriately with children and adults.
• Ability to follow simple oral or written instructions.
• Ability to walk, bend, reach, and engage in physical activity regularly.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working with children.
• Recreation background.
• Knowledge of peer mediation and conflict-resolution techniques and ability to apply them to lunchroom and playground situations.
• Knowledge of First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Enforce safety rules and maintain discipline in the lunchroom, playground, and activity room.
• Help younger students open cartons, wrappers, and similar items when they cannot do so independently.
• Monitor situations in the lunchroom and on the playground and intervene early to prevent escalation.
• Interact with students fairly and consistently.
• Keep teachers informed about problems or situations involving their students.
• Follow the guidelines and protocols of the assigned building.
• Actively supervise students, move throughout the work area as needed, and perform tasks involving consistent mobility.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
