About The Position

Temporary position with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2026. The job goal is to design and deliver high-quality, standards-aligned instruction that promotes student growth, academic achievement, and social-emotional development while creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment in accordance with district policies and state standards. The position supervises students and para educators as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Valid Washington State teaching certification appropriate for the assigned position and grade level (or eligibility for emergency certification)
  • Experience working with students in an educational setting
  • Strong instructional and communication skills
  • Ability to use educational technology
  • Ability to differentiate instruction
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Must successfully pass a background check prior to employment

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and the educational goals of the school.
  • Present subject matter concepts using a variety of instructional techniques, such as direct instruction, discussions, hands-on activities, collaborative learning, and multimedia resources.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that promotes active student participation, collaboration, critical thinking, and academic growth.
  • Assess student learning and progress through a variety of methods, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Identify and address individual student learning needs by utilizing differentiated instruction, accommodations, and appropriate instructional strategies when necessary.
  • Utilize technology effectively to enhance the teaching and learning experience, incorporating educational software, online resources, and interactive tools as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, assessments, and other required documentation.
  • Communicate with teachers, parents or guardians regarding student progress, attendance, behavior, and academic concerns through parent-teacher conferences, emails, or other appropriate means while maintaining confidentiality and complying with school policies.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues concerning the academic, social, and behavioral progress of students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and faculty members to develop and align curriculum, share best practices, and support student learning across grade levels.
  • Dress and act in a professional manner.
  • Maintain punctuality and reliability in all professional responsibilities.
  • Stay current on advancements in education, instructional methodologies, curriculum developments, and best practices, incorporating effective approaches into teaching practices.
  • Develop and maintain a positive, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative professional relationships with students, families, colleagues, and other school staff.
  • Teach students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior by following the written classroom plan that is connected to school-wide behavior expectations and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
  • Participate in district-wide improvement efforts and district initiatives.
  • Engage in professional learning and implement strategies to support the diverse learning needs of all students, including multilingual learners.
  • Supervise and manage students during classroom activities, assessments, transitions, and school events to maintain appropriate behavior and ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to help meet the needs of the building.
