About The Position

This position serves as an Elementary Instructional Specialist for English Language Arts & Reading at GLEASON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL for the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves providing assistance and coaching to instructional staff, focusing on the teaching/learning process, classroom management, and student learning needs. The specialist will model lessons, support teacher planning and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and collaborate with staff to use student data for instructional improvements. Responsibilities also include developing plans for at-risk students, staying updated on curriculum and district standards, developing and presenting workshops, and engaging with parents. The role requires strong organizational and technological skills for data analysis and intervention scheduling, budget management, and adapting support for diverse student populations. The position is a probationary/term contract for 187 days.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university
  • Texas Certification in elementary education
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience as an elementary classroom teacher
  • Demonstrated ability to provide staff development
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Ability to be organized and well-versed with technology to analyze data and create intervention schedules for students in need.
  • Must be able to manage a financial budget and acquire intervention support for students in need and track instructional interventions.
  • Must be able to adapt support techniques when working with diverse populations of students.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference may be given to those working on a master's degree with a focus on Principal Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to the instructional staff, concerning the teaching/learning process and classroom management.
  • Visit classrooms and provide feedback and coaching as they relate to student learning needs and instructional issues.
  • Model exemplary lessons in the classroom.
  • Support teachers with weekly team planning.
  • Organize and lead vertical PK-5 PLC meetings.
  • Assist in teaching student groups as determined by the principal.
  • Utilize student data to recommend appropriate changes in instruction, materials and strategies in collaboration with staff.
  • Develop and monitor a plan to ensure that at-risk students receive additional assistance.
  • Stay abreast of curriculum issues and district standards and communicate those to the staff.
  • Help develop and present workshops that support the Campus Improvement Plan.
  • Work with parents to promote their involvement in school.
  • Analyze data and create intervention schedules for students in need using technology.
  • Manage a financial budget and acquire intervention support for students in need.
  • Track instructional interventions.
  • Adapt support techniques when working with diverse populations of students.
  • Perform other curriculum duties as assigned by the building principal.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
