About The Position

This position serves as an Elementary Instructional Specialist for English Language Arts & Reading at EMERY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL for the 2026-2027 school year. The specialist will provide assistance to instructional staff regarding the teaching/learning process and classroom management, visit classrooms to offer feedback and coaching, and model exemplary lessons. The role involves utilizing student data to recommend instructional changes, developing plans for at-risk students, and staying current with curriculum and district standards. Additionally, the specialist will help develop and present workshops, work with parents to promote involvement, manage a financial budget, acquire intervention support for students, and adapt professional development opportunities for adult learners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university
  • Texas Certification in elementary education
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience as an elementary classroom teacher
  • Demonstrated ability to provide staff development and to work collaboratively with others.
  • Organized and well-versed with technology to analyze data and support teachers as they sharpen their analysis and data-response skills.
  • Able to manage a financial budget and acquire intervention support for students in need and track instructional interventions.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference may be given to those working on a master's degree with a focus on Principal Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to the instructional staff, concerning the teaching/learning process and classroom management.
  • Visit classrooms and provide feedback and coaching as they relate to student learning needs and instructional issues.
  • Model exemplary lessons in the classroom.
  • Assist in teaching student groups as determined by the principal.
  • In collaboration with staff, utilize student data to recommend appropriate changes in instruction, materials and strategies.
  • Develop and monitor a plan to ensure that at-risk students receive additional assistance.
  • Stay abreast of curriculum issues and district standards and communicate those to the staff.
  • Help develop and present workshops that support the Campus Improvement Plan.
  • Work with parents to promote their involvement in school.
  • Analyze data and support teachers as they sharpen their analysis and data-response skills.
  • Manage a financial budget and acquire intervention support for students in need and track instructional interventions.
  • Adapt PD opportunities to meet the needs of adult learners and be flexible and adaptable to support the school vision of inspiring life-long learners.
  • Perform other curriculum duties as assigned by the building principal.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
