About The Position

The Elementary Instructional Coach is responsible for providing curriculum support to teachers and support staff district wide through staff training, consultation, and communication to elevate instruction to positively impact student achievement. This position is for the 2026-2027 school year.

Requirements

  • Minimum bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid Tennessee teaching license with appropriate endorsement required. Appropriate endorsements would include 001, 101, 120, 401, 402, and 499.
  • Requires at least three years' successful teaching experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree in education or a closely related field.
  • Three years of successful teaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid Tennessee teaching certificate endorsed to teach elementary curriculum.
  • Knowledge of Instructional strategies for elementary core subject areas.
  • Knowledge of Formative, summative, and diagnostic assessments to inform instruction.
  • Knowledge of Child development principles and student learning needs across multiple grade levels.
  • Knowledge of Curriculum standards and academic benchmarks as defined by the Tennessee Department of Education.
  • Knowledge of Behavior management techniques that support a productive learning environment.
  • Skill in Supporting teachers and other professionals in improving instructional delivery of materials.
  • Skill in Interpreting academic data to guide instructional decisions.
  • Skill in Communicating effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Skill in Using educational technology platforms to support instruction and monitor student progress.
  • Ability to Build rapport with diverse stakeholder populations.
  • Ability to Support educators in adapting instructional approaches based on student responses and needs.
  • Ability to Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers and support personnel.
  • Ability to Maintain accurate records and prepare progress documentation.
  • Ability to Model professional behavior and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts model lessons in the areas of mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, or Social Studies.
  • Meets with teachers, data coordinators, and other stakeholders to review data and plan for instruction.
  • Supports teachers with the development of unit plans and lesson plans.
  • Supports teachers in the creation of common formative assessments to determine mastery of the grade-level standards.
  • Helps to plan and coordinate staff development with topics and presenters.
  • As requested by teacher or principal, works with individual teachers or educational assistants to provide intervention strategies and/or curriculum planning.
  • Works with principals and teacher committees to organize and coordinate grade-level and departmental meetings.
  • Assists with K-12 textbook adoptions, which may involve physical lifting.
  • Performs other duties requested by principals, supervisors, or director of schools.
