About The Position

The Renaissance Academy is seeking an ELA & Social Studies Teacher for 3rd-4th grade levels. The ideal candidate will be a professional, leader, and learner in their classroom, expected to model and facilitate learning while maintaining a safe and secure environment. RA Teachers are expected to be honest and fair, keeping the best interests of the school's students at the forefront. They should have a clear sense of the school's Vision and focus on continuous improvement, understanding how their role fits into the school's mission and drives success. A team player mindset is necessary, with a willingness to share resources and strategies. A "whatever it takes" attitude is essential to inspire students to learn, improve their character, and achieve their goals.

Requirements

  • PA Valid Teaching Certificate in Content/Grade area
  • Demonstrates a vested interest in the success, future and Vision of The Renaissance Academy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Pedagogical skills in literacy and numeracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and hold students accountable regarding classroom deadlines, expectations, and goals/norms.
  • Provide rigorous and challenging activities and lessons, differentiating instruction to support struggling learners and challenge quicker learners.
  • Post and review daily learning objectives and agenda with students in relation to curricula objectives.
  • Conduct a warm-up (Do Now) and closing activity each class period.
  • Return parental or student communication within 48 hours.
  • Assign homework and outside learning activities as needed to reinforce instruction and prepare students for future learning.
  • Provide guidance toward student goal setting, monitoring of grades, and follow-up on RTII needs.
  • Communicate with co-teachers, team members, or admin related to student needs.
  • Communicate with parents regarding student success and needs.
  • Update gradebooks.
  • Assess students frequently using formative and summative assessments.
  • Report concerns and accomplishments to their lead teacher.
  • Attend staff meetings once a month.
  • Attend departmental meetings once a month.
  • Make positive phone calls/emails home to students.
  • Participate in year-long planning by setting house team goals.
  • Review team Professional Growth Plan with Lead Teacher and Team Members.
  • Develop SLC comments and student goals.
  • Participate in SLC conferences.
  • Attend a variety of events, performances & family involvement opportunities throughout the school year.
  • Complete End of Year evaluation for Lead Team Member and Admin.
  • Establish year-long personal professional goals.
  • Document progress on professional goals and present to team and administrators.
  • Call all Homebase students at the start of the year (if applicable).
  • Plan strategically for the long-term and daily learning of their students.
  • Be accountable for the achievement of NWEA growth targets for their students.
  • Be responsible for the quality of Teaching and Learning in their classroom, striving for the best outcomes.
  • Provide a challenge to each student, each day.
