About The Position

This posting is for an Elementary Band Teacher (Grade 4) for the 2026-2027 school year. Stipend positions are available at East Falmouth Elementary, Mullen Hall Elementary, Teaticket Elementary, and North Falmouth Elementary. The role involves instructing students in a rehearsal setting before or after school, implementing diverse teaching techniques for student achievement and engagement, and developing/implementing FPS Music curriculum objectives. The teacher will maintain records, organize and conduct school concerts and community events, and utilize appropriate instructional strategies and music technology. A key responsibility is to increase student achievement through ongoing assessments and to increase student retention by developing a sequential instrumental program in conjunction with the Fine Arts Department Head, including recruitment strategies and monitoring program requirements. The teacher will accept supervision from the Fine Arts Department Head and Principal.

Requirements

  • Proficiency preferred on beginner band instruments (Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone Horn)
  • Demonstrated proficient-to-advance skill in the use of Internet, G-Mail and the Google Suite

Responsibilities

  • Instruct students in a rehearsal setting once/twice per week before or after school
  • Implement a variety of teaching techniques to ensure student achievement and engagement
  • Develop and implement FPS Music curriculum objectives based on the FPS Music curriculum and state frameworks
  • Maintain all attendance and grade records
  • Program, organize and conduct school concert(s), parade(s) and other community events in and outside the regular school schedule throughout the year
  • Use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, materials, and music technology that reflects an understanding of instrumental and general music content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, diverse learning styles, assessment strategies and culturally responsive teaching
  • Increase student achievement by conducting ongoing student formative and summative assessments and adjust teaching accordingly
  • Increase student retention by providing leadership and responsibility in the development and building of a sequential instrumental program in conjunction with the Fine Arts Department Head such as: developing and implementing recruitment strategies, monitoring current offerings, student eligibility and other requirements
  • Accept supervision and guidance from the Fine Arts Department Head and Principal
