About The Position

NRHEG Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to serve as our Elementary Band and Music Teacher in our growing Music program for the 2026-2027 school year. This role involves providing high-quality musical instruction, collaborating with stakeholders, and planning a balanced musical program for students. The teacher will adapt curriculum, incorporate diverse musical literature, and assess student growth and understanding.

Requirements

• Possession of K-12 MN Instrumental and Classroom Music License
• Demonstrates an understanding and use of equitable and culturally responsive practices

Nice To Haves

• Three years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred, but not required
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to apply instructional strategies on differentiation
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to multitask
• Knowledge of Minnesota State Art/Music Standards, collaboration practices, team teaching practices, and special education
• Ability to collect data and make recommendations for students
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with school administrators, staff, students, and families

Responsibilities

• Provides high-quality musical instruction to individual students and small groups
• Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students
• Plans and delivers a balanced musical program for students
• Effectively organizes class time and maximizes student engagement and learning
• Participates in meetings with teachers, administration, and families to discuss student placement and progress
• Adapts curriculum to meet the needs of each student
• Incorporates all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of the students
• Will evaluate each student’s musical growth, performance, and musical understanding and will assess each student’s contribution to the performance of the group
