About The Position

Des Moines Public Schools is hiring a part-time elementary art teacher for Findley Elementary. This position is only .25. Any elementary music-endorsed applicant is welcome to apply. The General Education Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering a high-quality educational program to meet students’ academic and social-emotional needs. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the district.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• Valid Iowa teaching license ( K-6 art required ).
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse workforce and student population.
• Effective written and oral communication.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
• Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.

Responsibilities

• Deliver daily lessons, aligned to state and district standards that meet students’ individual needs and ensure growth.
• Create an engaging, affirming, and meaningful classroom environment that meets the academic and social emotional needs of students.
• Participate in building and district professional learning communities to plan for instruction, analyze data, and create assessments.
• Monitor student learning on a daily basis.
• Use multiple data points to guide and individualize instruction.
• Communicate with families on a regular basis.
• Participate in professional development.
• Demonstrate consistent progress on meeting the eight Iowa Teaching Standards.
• Other duties, as assigned.
