About The Position

Raytheon is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to assume the part-time (20 hour/week) position of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Site Coordinator. In this role, you’ll define the necessary requirements to establish and maintain a comprehensive ESD control program, based on ANSI/ESD S20.20, that supports all production and engineering functions. You’ll be responsible for creating and maintaining detailed instructions for protecting electronic components and devices that are susceptible to damage from ESD and you’ll interact and coordinate with other ESD subject matter experts (SMEs) at other Raytheon and RTX facilities.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with the manufacture of hardware containing ESD items
  • Experience using ESD equipment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives clearance (ATF).
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • ESD Association Program Manager certification or other ESD industry certification (such as a Certified TR53 Technician)
  • Knowledge of ANSI/ESD S20.20 “Development of an Electrostatic Discharge Control Program for Protection of Electrical and Electronic Parts, Assemblies, and Equipment.”
  • Experience with project and program management.
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication experience with the ability to present ideas and information to senior leaders.
  • Solid ability to work in teams and collaborate with peers and internal customers
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly and effectively multi-task.

Responsibilities

  • Creating directive documentation for operators and engineers that routinely work on or handle ESD sensitive (ESDS) devices and hardware.
  • Teaming with production, quality and engineering personnel to discuss and resolve ESD related issues and problems that arise in production and engineering environments.
  • Advising factory management on disposition suspect hardware.
  • Providing ESD safeguarding advice and guidance to Raytheon suppliers and vendors.
  • Testing and qualifying ESD materials for use in ESD Protected Areas.
  • Performing ESD audits in production areas and engineering labs.
  • Participating in ESD committees and teams across RTX.
  • Developing training for individuals that work in, or support, areas that produce or develop hardware that contains ESDS items.
  • Collaborating with other ESD SMEs across Raytheon and RTX.
