About The Position

Our retail client in Buffalo, NY, is seeking an Electroplating Technician to join their team! This is an onsite/full-time/direct-hire position Salary range based on experience: $25-$30/HR This role is responsible for producing high-quality rhodium, palladium, and gold plating while maintaining precise control over chemical processes, plating baths, and equipment performance. The ideal candidate has an interest or background in chemistry, electrical systems, and laboratory processes, enjoys working independently, and takes pride in maintaining an organized and controlled work environment. Much of this work takes place in a lab-style production environment, where attention to detail, documentation, and safety are critical. Candidates who are science-minded, efficient, and capable of managing complex processes with minimal supervision will thrive in this role.

Requirements

  • Experience working in electroplating, chemical processing, laboratory, or industrial finishing environments is preferred
  • Background in chemistry, materials science, engineering, or related technical fields is a strong advantage
  • Electrical or mechanical aptitude for working with process equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage plating processes with minimal supervision
  • Basic computer skills, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics/Navision is a plus
  • Background in jewelry manufacturing, plating, polishing, or finishing processes is a plus
  • STEM education, technical training, or chemistry coursework preferred
  • Laboratory or technical training experience is beneficial but not required

Responsibilities

  • Operate electroplating lines used for rhodium, palladium, and gold plating of jewelry
  • Execute plating processes according to production orders and quality specifications
  • Monitor bath chemistry, plating thickness, and production output
  • Ensure consistent quality of finished plated product
  • Learn and maintain the components of the electroplating line, including: rectifiers pumps heaters mixers ventilation systems evaporators scrubbers piping, valves, and flow systems
  • Monitor electrical current levels and process parameters
  • Track maintenance changes and equipment performance in logbooks
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of plating systems
  • Safely handle plating chemicals according to OSHA requirements and industry standards
  • Review and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all on-site chemicals
  • Maintain proper labeling and storage of chemicals throughout the facility
  • Monitor chemical reactions and bath conditions to maintain stable plating processes
  • Maintain organized chemical inventory and storage areas
  • Maintain accurate production logs, bath maintenance records, and chemical tracking
  • Document equipment adjustments, chemical additions, and system changes
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
