This opportunity is with a respected, community-based academic health system serving Southeast Alabama, Southwest Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle. This is the region’s largest not-for-profit hospital and an extensive primary care and specialty clinic network. The organization welcomes both experienced Electrophysiologists and graduating fellows (2026 and 2027). J-1 waiver support and H-1B visa sponsorship are available for qualified candidates. The system includes a large regional medical center, a physician group, a foundation, and affiliations with a college of osteopathic medicine, supporting residency programs in internal medicine, transitional year, and pharmacy. The flagship medical center is a 420-bed regional referral hub serving over 460,000 residents. It is recognized as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level II Trauma Center, and Chest Pain Center, and also operates the region’s only Level III NICU and inpatient pediatric unit. With a medical staff of over 200 physicians across nearly every specialty, the organization fosters a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The facility is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Electrophysiology Cardiologist to join its established and growing cardiovascular program in Dothan, Alabama. This position offers the opportunity to develop a thriving electrophysiology practice supported by a strong referral base, advanced cardiac services, and a collaborative team of cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and advanced practice providers. The EP Cardiologist will perform a broad range of electrophysiology procedures, manage patients with cardiac arrhythmias, and participate in the continued growth of the organization's comprehensive heart and vascular program. The group is open to 2026 and 2027 graduating EP fellows as well as experienced electrophysiologists.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency
  • Completion of a Cardiovascular Disease fellowship
  • Completion of a Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiac Electrophysiology
  • Eligible for or holding an active Alabama medical license
  • DEA certification
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage patients with cardiac arrhythmias and conduction disorders
  • Perform electrophysiology studies and catheter ablation procedures
  • Implant and manage cardiac rhythm devices, including pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices, and loop recorders
  • Interpret ECGs, Holter monitors, event monitors, and other cardiac rhythm diagnostics
  • Collaborate with general cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and primary care physicians
  • Provide inpatient consultations and outpatient follow-up care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based cardiovascular care programs
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Contribute to the continued development and expansion of electrophysiology services within the health system
