About The Position

The Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Division of Cardiology invites applications from outstanding cardiologists with fellowship training in Electrophysiology. This position is based at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), which is Canada's third largest hospital, and is the largest healthcare facility in British Columbia. As a Level 1 quaternary referral center for the province of BC, VGH is actively involved in the care of patients with a wide spectrum of cardiovascular disease. We are looking to recruit a mid-career electrophysiologist with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in complex cardiac ablation and device implantation, including complex atrial and ventricular ablation procedures. The successful applicant will be expected to pursue an academically focused career based on a commitment to education scholarship or research, as well as assume administrative leadership roles. This role will also be a clinical faculty position within the Division of Cardiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). As part of the UBC Division of Cardiology’s academic focus, the successful candidate is expected to substantially support the development and growth of the UBC Cardiology education and research programs. The Division of Cardiology will support an appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher, however clinical faculty appointments at UBC are assigned at a rank determined by the Academic Appointments, Reappointments, Promotions and Tenure (ARRPT) Committee of the UBC Department of Medicine. Requirements

  • Fellowship training in Electrophysiology.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in complex cardiac ablation and device implantation, including complex atrial and ventricular ablation procedures.
  • RCPSC designation in Internal Medicine and Cardiology or their equivalents.
  • At least 2 years of advanced electrophysiology (EP) training.
  • Eligible for licensure in the Province of British Columbia.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and research.
  • Exceptional work ethics and collegiality.
  • Resume and cover letter required to apply.

  • Administrative experience across multiple levels, including at the regional, provincial and national levels.
  • History of teaching, mentorship, and curriculum development at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC).
