About The Position

Provides repairs, calibrations, periodic inspections, maintenance, electrical safety tests, installations and authorized modifications to a wide range of non-medical electronic and related equipment. The Electronics Technician provides safe and effective non-medical electronic devices for patient and clinical staff use. Good interpersonal skills and working relationships with staff essential. Documents technical work accurately and timely upon completion via service reports. Ability to interface with or adapt to the use of computers of all types is necessary. May perform limited design work for special applications. Knowledge of computer programs, electronic troubleshooting, general mechanics, safety requirements, testing procedures, and codes and regulations. Knowledge of the operating principles of a wide range of non-medical equipment is required. Capable of handling small and medium hand tools, soldering equipment and a wide variety of electronic test equipment. Medical terminology helpful. Experience working with nurse call, access control and door hardware a plus. Rotating on-call duty is required. May require travel, including overnight stays. May work evening and weekend shifts.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Electronics Technology or three years of equivalent related experience.
  • Ability to interface with or adapt to the use of computers of all types is necessary.
  • Knowledge of computer programs, electronic troubleshooting, general mechanics, safety requirements, testing procedures, and codes and regulations.
  • Knowledge of the operating principles of a wide range of non-medical equipment is required.
  • Capable of handling small and medium hand tools, soldering equipment and a wide variety of electronic test equipment.
  • Rotating on-call duty is required.
  • May require travel, including overnight stays.
  • May work evening and weekend shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • When applicable, may need a valid driver's license.
  • If valid driver's license is required, must maintain a good driving record.
  • When applicable, required to maintain Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) certification, power limited licensure and respirator fit testing.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair a wide range of non-medical electronic equipment, including nurse call systems, door access controls, and electronic lock hardware.
  • Utilize Asset and Equipment Maintenance Management software to document all service activities and maintain detailed equipment histories.
  • Execute software upgrades and system programming for hospital infrastructure to ensure peak operational reliability.
  • Perform electrical safety tests on facility equipment to ensure patient and staff safety.
