About The Position

The United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) is a global media agency that carries out all United States civilian international broadcasting. Our media networks complement and reinforce one another in a shared mission vital to U.S. national interests: to inform, engage, and connect people around the world in support of freedom and democracy. This position is for employment as a personal services contractor with VOA News. All personal service contractors must pass a thorough background check.

Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, maintain, and repair broadcast electronic equipment, including audio, video, transmission, and studio systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions using electronic testing and measurement tools.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and routine inspections of broadcast equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor technical systems and respond to equipment failures to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and testing of new broadcast and production equipment.
  • Support studio, control room, transmission, and field production operations by providing technical assistance and equipment setup.
  • Maintain wiring, cabling, connectors, and signal distribution systems used in broadcast facilities.
  • Performs technical functions related to studio control room operation in the production and broadcast of service programs, including audio control, video control, operation of studio and robotic cameras, recording and playback equipment, mixers, filters, patch panels, and other equipment.
  • Works in the field to record and/or transmit live programming, either alone or under direction.
