About The Position

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Electronics Technician 4 at the Stafford Creek Corrections Center in Aberdeen, Washington. This position supports the agency's mission to improve safety by positively changing lives by supporting efforts to ensure the safety, security and efficiency of the facility. Stafford Creek Corrections Center is a 1,936-bed multi-custody facility located five miles west of Aberdeen, on the southern Washington Coast. There are seven living units for medium and minimum long-term custody Incarcerated Individuals and a restrictive housing unit for maximum-custody Incarcerated Individuals. SCCC was Washington State's first tobacco-free facility for both staff and Incarcerated Individuals. Requirements

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
Knowledge and ability to control and six (6) months experience working with: SIMPLEX (fire alarm system) or similar system
Visual media and cable TV systems
Motorola two-way radio communications systems or similar systems
Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, plans, and sketches
Estimate materials and personnel needed to complete projects
Supervise a crew of incarcerated individuals (I/Is) when needed.
Knowledge of: standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment for the electrical trade
Knowledge of: electrical codes, safety precautions
Knowledge of: record keeping.

Nice To Haves

Five (5) years’ experience installing, maintaining or repairing electrical and/or electronic equipment to include at least one (1) year of experience in the repair and testing of security alarm surveillance equipment
Washington State Journeyman Limited-Energy Electrical license EL 06
NICET 2 Certification or equivalent
Knowledge and ability to control, and six (6) months of experience working on the following systems and/or similar systems: Touch screen systems
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) systems
Security Systems (Digital/Multiplexer)
Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) systems
"Taut wire" perimeter fence security system
Ability to monitor Siemens HVAC control system

Responsibilities

Installs, maintains, and repairs Communications, Simplex Fire Alarm, Surveillance, and Electronic Control Systems.
Maintain, monitor and perform regular maintenance on all SCCC's SIMPLEX fire alarm systems facility wide.
Provide 24-hour maintenance and emergency services on all facility Touch Screen systems that monitor and control all facility perimeter access and egress gates, all security systems in SCCC's Secured Housing Unit (SHU}/ Restrictive Housing Unit (RHU}.
Maintain, program, and monitor PLC systems throughout SCCC's facility which control all interior and exterior buildings and perimeter security systems.
Maintenance of two (2) separate primary electronics surveillance systems. One is the Digital Video Recording (DVR) system providing continuous video recording from 80+ video cameras located throughout SCCC. The second electronics surveillance system encompasses 180+ security cameras with complex multiplexer monitoring systems.
Maintains, monitors, and provides repairs to the internal facility Visual Media and cable TV systems servicing all living units, incarcerated individual program areas, and staff training areas.
Responsible for the Motorola two-way radio communications system. This includes all hand-held portables, mobiles, repeater systems, UPS, and audio recording systems.
Maintain, program, and monitor PCI systems throughout SCCC's facility which control all interior and exterior buildings and perimeter security lighting systems.
Monitor, maintain, and complete service repairs on the "Taut Wire" perimeter fence security system.
Maintain and monitor the Siemens HVAC control system.
Works closely with the IT Department in order to quickly identify and resolve issues.
Assist in completing upgrades and installations of new equipment and technology such as: cameras, SEN components, and equipment, data drops and cabling when needed.
Prepare preliminary cost estimates and projections for assigned task or projects.
Order sufficient required materials to accomplish assigned tasks.
Schedule work to be completed based upon its assigned priority.
Use current SCCC procedures to hire and train incarcerated workers as needed.
Ensure that all safety and security procedures are followed. For example, all tool and key accountability Policies and procedures are adhered to.
