About The Position

IDEX Fire and Safety is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electronics Sales Engineer to drive sales of electronic components for control systems in firetrucks, ambulances, and other specialty vehicles. This role focuses on achieving year-over-year growth, identifying and penetrating new markets, and ensuring products meet evolving customer needs. The position involves collaborating with a product team to gather Voice of Customer (VOC) feedback for product development and market enhancement. Technical expertise and sales acumen are crucial for building customer relationships and delivering tailored solutions. The core market focus is electronics sales within the Fire and Safety markets (Firetruck/Ambulance), with geographic coverage across the USA and support for Canada, the Middle East, Asia (including China and India), and Latin America.

  • Bachelor’s degree in sales, engineering, electrical engineering or technology and 6+ years’ experience.
  • Technical Sales and support of customers in the fire and safety markets.
  • Managing multiple projects of varying degrees of difficulty at the same time.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently without help or limited supervision.
  • Talking to and expressing ideas to other engineers, internal or external, and be objective yet firm to allow for the best possible outcome on any given situation.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electronic components, control systems, and their application in fire and safety systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certifications in sales, marketing, or project management are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently to identify opportunities favorable to advancing the sale and delivery of Weldon Electronics and other IDEX F&S products into core markets across North America.
  • Develop and execute a business plan.
  • Conduct market research to identify and develop new business opportunities within the fire and safety markets, as well as new opportunities outside the core market.
  • Actively support the team to identify credible opportunities favorable to advancing the sale, delivery, and commissioning of new and existing products.
  • Actively develop, educate, and support channel partners, OEMs, and dealers to drive growth in the fire and safety markets.
  • Provide strong VOC to the company to drive proper growth of services and business into areas of value to the industry.
  • Look for potential growth opportunities through partnerships, 3rd parties, and potential acquisitions.
  • Provide actionable intelligence and market feedback to develop and support strategic initiatives for growth in the electronics market.
  • Recommend and participate in New Product Development initiatives, as applicable.
  • Provide market and opportunity updates through company-available reporting tools.
  • Analyze field problems remotely (most times via telephone) and recommend corrective action to both the customer and AB engineers.
