About The Position

The Sr. Electronics Lab Technician will be responsible for performing functional acceptance testing of circuit board assemblies and power electronic units following defined test procedures. You will support development and validation testing of high voltage automotive power electronic components, in addition to fabricating special test equipment, electronic test boxes, and harnesses. This position will be based in the Torrance, CA facility, and will require you to work on-site and report to the Lab Operation Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Ability to use manufacturers' product data sheets
  • Ability to set up and utilize standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, power supplies, and digital multimeters with no direction
  • Ability to use instrumentation such as thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, pressure gauges, and flow meters
  • Experience with Google Workspace such as Sheets, Slides, etc to capture test data and create reports
  • Experience performing printed circuit board assembly modifications such as component rework, soldering/de-soldering of electronic components, etc
  • Experience working on high voltage (<1kV), high current units

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate special test equipment, electronic test boxes, and harnesses
  • Design and fabricate simple mechanical fixtures and jigs
  • Functional acceptance testing of circuit board assemblies and power electronic units following defined test procedures
  • Support development and validation testing of high-voltage automotive power electronic components
  • Troubleshoot, root cause, and document electronic assembly issues
  • Comfortable working on high voltage (<1kV), high current units
  • Perform printed circuit board assembly modifications such as component rework, soldering/de-soldering of electronic components, etc
  • Understand how to read electrical schematics and use manufacturers' product data sheets
  • Procure necessary tools, equipment, and components for prototype builds
  • Set up and utilize standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, power supplies, and digital multimeters with no direction
  • Use instrumentation such as thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, pressure gauges, and flow meters
  • Use Google Workspace such as Sheets, Slides, etc to capture test data and create reports
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safe practices
