About The Position

Collins Aerospace is seeking an Electronics Lab Technician who will work on a variety of industry-leading avionics from business, regional, and air-transport jet aircraft. This is a challenging and rewarding position with outstanding advancement potential. The role involves applying extensive electronic and mechanical theory to configure, model, construct, test, troubleshoot, and modify engineering prototypes and/or first article electronic equipment. It requires performing assignments with advanced skill, use, and application of engineering or scientific principles and techniques in a wide variety of highly complex technical tasks and projects. This includes evaluating and resolving calibration and troubleshooting problems, performing precision testing, and supervising precision assembly of engineering equipment. The technician will also prepare reports, charts, and graphs with recommendations for improvement, assist engineers in the design, development, and evaluation of new products, and recommend product improvements or manufacturing modifications. Additionally, the role involves designing, developing, and overseeing the building of experimental or prototype models or test fixtures, determining test methods, revising test equipment modifications, and evaluating product/equipment performance using test results. The technician will participate as an engineering team member to define requirements and select solution methods, utilize various programming languages for product design/implementation, and fabricate, assemble, calibrate, and test electronic/mechanical equipment and components. Participation in all phases of the electronic/mechanical/software engineering design effort, maintaining test/design activity documentation, and selecting optimum test procedures based on changing work priorities and differing work environments are also key aspects of the role. The technician will assume responsibility for relatively independent action within the design/production process and interface with persons of substantially higher rank within or outside the Company on significant matters, often requiring coordination of activity across organizational lines concerning engineering design, sales, production, and marketing. The role requires operating in accordance with Corporate, Operations, and Division policies, procedures, and practices and in compliance with accepted business ethics.

Requirements

  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with applicable test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and power sources.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Debugging and testing digital, analog, and power supply circuits
  • Hands-on skills such as breadboarding, soldering, and circuit board repair and fabrication.
  • Skill in the reading and layout of schematic drawings and the ability to translate them into printed wiring boards.
  • Product Test Requirement development and Qualification test support.
  • Be able to write Engineering modifications, Engineering Change Orders, and documenting testing and build procedures.
  • Technical Associate degree (ASET/ASEET) or equivalent
